Nice while it lasted

We've been enjoying our hot tub immensely, but those days are over for awhile. On Saturday morning, the kids got in the hot tub and had been playing for awhile when I joined them. I'd been sitting there for a bit, just enjoying the relaxing heat, when we decided to turn on the jets. The water started bubbling and we were all enjoying ourselves, when I noticed something floating through the water. I figured it was a little clump of hair or dirt or something of that nature, so I grabbed it to toss it out.

I did a double-take as I picked it up. This was not just a little clump of hair. . . . . it was the foot and leg of a MOUSE! As you can imagine, I was quite surprised, especially since I hadn't noticed it floating around when I first got in. And while it was rather gross to think about, I simply tried not to give it too much thought.

Later that day, Brad turned on the heater so the hot tub would be ready for him. He went inside to change, and when he came out there was water all over the place, coming from the base of the wood that surrounds the hot tub. He removed one of the panels to discover water gushing out of the pump. We figure a mouse must have gotten sucked into the pump and all that made it out was one leg/foot.

The hot tub is now turned off and drained, and will stay that way until we can afford to get a new pump. Hey, I wonder if my new jeweler does hot tubs?

How very GROSS (as the kids would say). Maybe "someone" just needs to get the rest of him out of the pump...no I'm NOT available.

A common term is called "frog legs"..and I remember that floating around before the tub was fixed. Now it is "mouse legs"..I think I would have made the biggest spash getting out. My "shivers" are all over right now. (poor little mouse)
